no way! totally wrong! you do have to "get used to it" over the course of a couple rides, but it is absolutely not a "callous," that's horrifying. I'm sore for the first ride or two every spring and then not at all for the rest of the outdoor season.

in case it's helpful, from experience: there's absolutely a getting-used-to-it period, but it shouldn't be more than 2-3 rides! if there's still discomfort after that, and if you're already using shorts, the next step is either a new saddle or tweaking the various positions/angles of the saddle.
