Rob & Michele Reiner serendipitously bought their home from Norman Lear. Though it had long been Rob's dream home, Michele found it on her own. It was also built by Henry Fonda, who raised Peter & Jane Fonda there. Rob told the story in a 2015 interview for American Masters' Lear doc.

The Reiner news is so dark and all kinds of awful. There's so much to be said about the marks Rob Reiner left on TV & film, but my earliest thoughts are of the family. Any death is traumatic enough, but the absolute horror of a circumstance like that casts an even larger cloud.

With Everybody Loves Raymond back in the discourse, can we acknowledge that “Christmas Present” (s5e11) is one of the greatest sitcom episodes—and certainly holiday episodes—ever written? Deserves to be remembered with the same reverence (rightfully) given to “The Canister.”
