Paying people for plasma feels unethical.

But Canada already gets ~80% of its plasma from the U.S. where the system is far more exploitative.

We can't pretend there’s a standard of Canadian moral purity that we haven’t already broken.

We often treat measles immunity as a solved problem: "Childhood vaccination = lifelong protection"

Might be a lazy assumption.

I know you don't write the headlines, André, but this one reads as quite credulous when halfway down the article, Jones says this:

PHAC really doesn't like the word "epidemic" for some reason.

And how, exactly (one wonders), is a statement such as this made with this level of certitude?

That whole novel pathogen concept was just lost on so many people. As science communicators, we need to do a better job of clarifying it for people. Any ideas?

Hey, I built a desktop app that lets you download video and audio files from *most websites* with basically zero friction.

No ads, spyware, or sketchy web-redirects.
Sends stuff straight to your Downloads folder.
Should work on Windows *and* Mac.
Free to use.

I need beta testers. Any takers?

The thing I really want people to understand is that this doesn't stop at the U.S. border. 📎 www.nytimes.com/2025/05/30/t...

We're watching the public emergence of a global surveillance dragnet. And if you have a data fingerprint, you're in it.

Marjorie Michel is in as PM Carney's new Minister of Health.

A veteran campaign strategist, her selection may signal a more confrontational dynamic with provinces on pharmacare and Canada Health Act enforcement — as promised in the Liberals' election platform. canadahealthwatch.ca/newsletter/2...
