Nearly a lifetime ago the Daily Show made a joke at the Republican National Convention about all the terrible haircuts being the consequence of never letting a gay person touch your hair. The same principle applies to superheroes.

Every idea it has, it borrowed from something else that did it better. And that’s a separate issue from the insultingly bad central premise.

Not even to mention the bulk of the replies are not only fine with wokeness, they’re so much more thoughtful than those chosen. They demonstrate actual critical thought and examine the tension between aesthetics and content. They’re writing smarter analysis than this article.
