Just rambling about variety of sports, films & tv + whatever else comes to mind
2/2

Worst

1. The Mastermind
2. A big bold beautiful journey
3. Captain America Brave New World
4. After the Hunt
5. Death of a Unicorn

Don’t think I saw any “awful” films this year (unlike 2024 with megalopolis) but these would be the weakest ones I saw at the cinema from the 48 I saw.

48. I quite liked the first 30 mins, unfortunately the following 80 mins are pretty dull. This could’ve been lot shorter like I didn’t need long scenes of Josh O’Connor going up & down a ladder.

47. Part 2 & tonally very different to part 1 it’s much darker. I think second part is not as strong as the first in terms of the songs & storytelling but it’s still heartfelt, emotional & was an enjoyable watch. Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande & Jonathan Bailey are great.

46. Set in a dystopian world this is a fun action thriller. Glen Powell is great as the angry comedic lead & Josh Brolin & Colman Domingo support him well. Nice to see Michael Cera too & his scenes feel very Edgar Wright in a film that felt less Edgar Wright than normal.

45. Silly, illogical & full of issues but fun & nostalgic too. New additions fit in well to the og cast. These films are a guilty pleasure. Oh and beforehand a bloke from the magical circle performed some tricks that was cool. A fun evening at the cinema.

44. As someone who studied gcse history this was right up my street. It’s 2.5 hrs long & it flew by, I was gripped throughout. Russell Crowe, Rami Malek, Michael Shannon are terrific. Leo Woodall’s performance was incredibly moving.

43. The most Yorgos Lanthimos film. It’s delightfully deranged. Emma Stone is one of the finest actors of her generation & shout out Jesse Plemons who is once again phenomenal. An absolute blast.

42. A biopic that takes a different direction to your usual. It’s very moving in parts. This focuses on Bruce Springsteen struggling with past trauma & issues that arise as a result. Jeremy Allen White is excellent & is well supported by Jeremy Strong & Stephen Graham.

Was prepared for tough game after THAT second half midweek. But that must be easiest game we had vs them in a while & that saying something given we beat em 4 x in a season under Tuchel & joy we had vs Ange. Utterly woeful. We were superb, controlled it throughout, only gripe not winning by more.

41. Based on the crazy true story of Jeffrey Manchester. Channing Tatum more like charming Tatum. He is brilliant & is supported by an excellent ensemble cast. It’s funny, thrilling & equally heartwarming & heartbreaking. One of my favourites I’ve seen this year.

40. Hmm. Didn’t hate it but certainly didn’t love it. Some weird contrived plot points that didn’t feel necessary. Given sensitive subject matter it will divide opinion. Weakest out of the Luca films that I seen. Performances are largely gd by those involved at least.

39. It was fine, some bits work some don’t. Seth Rogen & Aziz Ansari basically play themselves. Keanu Reeves really is the highlight & has some brilliant lines.

38. I have no interest in MMA but I like a biopic. Dwayne Johnson playing someone with depth is nice to see & he is great in this. The story itself though is fairly unremarkable.

37. A beautiful film based on the true story of John Davidson, who is diagnosed with Tourette’s syndrome at a time when little is known about it. It is incredibly moving, at times very funny & ultimately incredibly uplifting. Robert Aramayo & Maxine Peake are terrific.

36. Trailer had me intrigued. Unfortunately despite its ambition with some nice ideas & nice scenes it just doesn’t work. The writing ain’t great & there is a severe lack of chemistry between the pair + their characters not that likeable so I didn’t care for em much.

Paying less & less attention to football than ever before so knowledge on managers out there not great but I’d say Glasner. A Guehi Glasner package like Sarri & Jorgi be nice & look won’t happen coz not sure this lot can take credit for it. Think he’s 3rd best manager in league behind Pep & Slot.

I agree but he still needs an elite partner next to him which he doesn’t have. Today he was bad when he came on, it happens but this situation we find ourselves in could’ve been avoided had SD’s gone & got a CB.
