We had another site found on Tuesday which we thought had been abandoned, only for our wonderful wardens to find chicks running around. I’ll say tentatively that it’s a better year. Now we just need them to fledge…

Really worrying to hear. Lots of riparian alders that I used to monitor for LSW have been razed due to phytopthora, traditional orchards decimated, more GSW predation, fewer inverts, etc, etc. The perfect storm for this beautiful and charismatic wee bird
