The amount of horseshit and fraud in the supplements industry is truly reprehensible and infuriating.

Or, how the supplement industry took meat garbage and turned it into a 9-billion-dollar business.

WHOA. The FBI was/is spying on a Signal chat for a New York immigration court watch group, claiming they were “anarchist violent extremist actors.”

Your reminder that the government is watching and don’t say anything in a big group chat you wouldn’t say on TV.

Episode 1 of Plur1bus has me shook. Damn, haven't seen pure '70s style paranoia and creepiness like that for a long time. If you have Apple TV or are handy with the Internet, check it out.

Listening to Electric Nebraska, and it's amazing what a phenomenal editor of his own work Springsteen is. Just great call after great call on what to release and what not.

He was so right that the E-Street sessions were weaker than the solo ones.

Empire of AI tells the deeply researched story of OpenAI's beginnings almost through to current day. There are so many geniuses, cranks, and grifters! The book does a great job synthesizing how Silicon Valley culture has permeated AI research and practice.

So how come the Threads teasers I get in Instagram are often interesting and make me want to click, but the For you list is both different and also packed full of gas leak posts? Wouldn't it be better to actually show me the interesting things when I'm, you know, on Threads?

Apart from all the other concerns with AI, I just can't wrap my head around how many people VCs think are perfectly fine walking around talking to their devices in public.

Who does that? I'm embarrassed about asking Siri to skip one minute forward in public.

Oh, you know, just trying to agree to the iCloud terms and conditions in Tahoe.

It's going great.

The Tainted Cup is a whirlwind whodunnit set in a bonkers fantasy world that I can't wait to read more about. If you like fantasy or crime procedurals or both, this one is great.

Whenever I feel confused about how so many people seem to not mind AI slop, I remind myself that Kenny G is a best selling artist. And then I am sad.

Really happy Severance is bringing back Philip K Dick-style paranoid sci-fi with Dick’s two questions:

"What is human?”
"What is real?”

Incredible existential horror in this show.

I have a nickname for my daughter in my contacts and for years have been able to text her from the car via Siri by saying “send message to $nickname”.

Today it said it can't send to groups.

Years it's been working. Years. How is Siri getting worse like this?

Can't even imagine the hell of being on shift right now for a legacy media to crank out some kind of The Big Game reaction/think piece on whatever pre-planned PR agency crap is happening.

At least Sisyphus can be happy.

Used a NUC as a Plex server since 2016. Wiped it and installed Debian this fall. Took careful notes.

Now replaced with an N100. Used the exact same fstab to mount my Synology share through SMB.

Auth error.

So now I guess I'm on the NFS bandwagon after all these years.

My vinyl collection has been sitting in my parents' garage for almost 30 years. So I gave it to a friend. Goodbye keepers of my sanity in high school!

Been re-reading Neal Asher's brilliant Polity series. If you're into harder sci-fi with a heaping side of body horror and true monsters, it's highly recommended. Start with Gridlinked.

Instagram is now blocking my images, because "The photo may take actions at high volume that might bother others." Which apparently is spam? AI rollout is going great I see.
