Malaria is among the potential diagnoses, yes. Along with viral hemorrhagic fever, food or water poisoning, typhoid fever and meningitis. It could be multiple illnesses; we'll need data to know.

That said, in reference to this study, it seems the research team intends to ensure their tool is optimized and accurate before rolling it out at scale. So I wouldn't say it's a comparable scenario.
