Isnt stronger unions one of the key ways to help spread income equality?

So how would you go about it?

Im not trying to be negative here I just don’t see much point of complaining without realistic alternatives.

I would too, but it doesnt realistically work like that. If the problem is wage gap, we have existing legislative tools to fix that just raise federal minimum wage

Why did those people sell to Amazon? And who benefited from that. In America if you think you can do better than them there’s plenty of opportunities for entrepreneuership

You’re right there are other providers like google and microsoft. But OP’s point was none of them should exist.. And technology behaves slightly different to commodities. I’d like to think you’re right break up Amazon and Walmart to see but they tried that with Microsoft in the 90s - look at it now

Im not making excuses. Walk into your local grocery store and ask the average person if they would give up the aforementioned things. I bet you the answer is a clear and resounding no.

So if thats the truth rather than deny it, we need to figure out how to live with it

I’d like to think you’re right. And we were just fine (im over 30 I still remember using floppy disks)…

But unfortunately seems to me the genie is out of the bottle and most people wouldn’t vote to get rid of those luxuries.

Sorry thats the truth. So now we have to figure how to live with it…

Nettlix, Insta/Fb, ESPN, Disney+, Adobe, BBC, to name a few, all run on Amazon Web Services. Saying no to Amazon means in part to not have any of these other digital conveniences… maybe you’re okay with that. Some might not..

If someone builds a company through voluntary transactions, respecting others’ rights and following just laws, they may have a right to keep what they’ve earned, no?
June 30, 2025 at 5:32 AM
I think Walmart’s margin is ~ 5%. They are also the largest employer in America. Raise wages and they cant employ as many people. Amazon famously made no profit for years, in 2022 they had net loss of some $2 billion. None of this strikes me as a hoarder mentality, or am I missing something ?

Do you prefer a world without amazon?
