One of my new favorite Spanish resources I have found is Dreaming Spanish. It is a great resource to find listening resources at your level, every video is grouped by level from super beginner to advanced. I really like the structure!

One thing I wish I did earlier in my language learning journey: Listen to podcasts.

It is sooo helpful with improving my ability to hold conversations now because it isn't nearly as hard to understand spoken language after listening to so many podcasts.

This is my current language study routine!

Any suggestions for improvements? Trying to create unreasonable expectations but still want to make good progress in each language.

I'm building a database of language learning activities for myself!

The goal with this is to have a list of activities I can pick from to decrease any resistance to starting a study session.

I am going to spend some time today adding more ideas to what I already have!

Goals for this week:

- 1 French podcast + summary of the episode
- 3 spanish course videos
- 5 french journal entries
- 3 lessons on Language Transfer for Spanish

I think I'm starting to get a routine set for the year!

One thing that has really helped my language learning is taking lessons with multiple teachers instead of only one. I have 3 different teachers that I take lessons with.

Monday - 1 hour Spanish lesson
Friday - 30 min French lesson
Saturday - 1 hour French lesson (every other week)

Currently I'm tracking a study log and a resource list grouped by Type and by Level.

Anything I am missing?

I've considered adding a journal but ended up putting that inside the study log. Seemed easier to have one place to go for each study session.

I spent some time reworking my Notion template for language learning. The dashboard page has a task planner/manager and then each language is in it's own card which holds my study log and resource list.

Hopefully this will increase my organization for my studying!

I might add some explanations to each of the topics in the Grammar Tracker.

This way, the Grammar Tracker is more than just a checklist but a tool to learn each concept in the language.

Maybe I should add a short quiz to test understanding as well.

Any thoughts on this?

Some things I've learned after learning French and will do better when I learn Spanish:

- Start taking lessons with a tutor right away (I use Preply and iTalki)
- Practice speaking and listening from day 1
- Focus my learning on words that are relevant to my life

Anything else to add?

A big part of my Spanish learning recently has been using this video course on Youtube. I really like how it also includes listening and speaking practice. A big thing I ignored at first when learning French! Hoping to get the basics down with this and a tutor on Preply!

I'm all in on my Spanish learning this year. Starting from the beginning, this is going to be my focus this week! I'm going to try to get as far into this as I can but still making sure to fully understand each concept before going to the next!

Pretty good week!

✅ podcast and summary complete

✅ chapter in my D-Day book read

✅ spoke more than 500 words into FluentBurst

❌ Finish A1 level in the Spanish Grammer Tracker

The grammar tracker goal was a little too ambitious this week, I'm going to break it down smaller now!
Goals for this week:

- Listen to an episode of the Autoctone podcast and write a summary
- Read a chapter in my current French book: La bataille de D-Day
- Speak 500 words in FluentBurst
- Complete the A1 level in the Grammar Tracker

Trying a new way of tracking language learning activities. Each week I am going to put it into a table in Notion. That way I can keep track of weekly goals to make better progress! I might try to change the database views to something more appealing but I think this could help me a lot!

How do you decide what to focus on during your speaking practice?

I try to either practice a roleplay scenario like going to a hotel or a debate topic to practice expressing my opinion. Just talking about my day all of the time gets a little boring after a while.

How do you balance learning grammar with practicing real conversations?

I try to work in new grammar topics into my writing first and then try practicing it in my speech with FluentBurst. The goal for me is to always bring every grammar topic into my speech as soon as I can.

If you could speak your target language fluently tomorrow, how would it change your life?

For me, it would provide opportunities to better connect with locals and also provide a great sense of accomplishment, which is the biggest driver in my language learning journey.

I am almost finished with my first free language tool!

In an effort to solve language learning problems for myself and hopefully for others, I began working on a solution to better track language learning progress.

I am hoping to have the first version of this out soon!
