These findings suggest that PRDM8 methylation may be linked to BPD and its treatment response, highlighting the need for further research on its functional significance and gene-environment interactions in psychiatric disorders.

➡️ BPD patients showed PRDM8 hypomethylation compared to healthy controls.
➡️ After Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, methylation levels increased in line with reduced symptom severity.
➡️ No associations were found with adverse childhood experiences.

New publication alert! 🚨🧬
Our study examined DNA methylation of PRDM8, a histone methyltransferase, in relation to Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). We found significant associations with BPD status and symptom severity. Find details at: www.mdpi.com/2076-3425/15...

We are thrilled to announce the initiation of a new research collaboration with Mariela Chertoff from the University of Buenos Aires! 🇦🇷🌎 We're hosting Mariela in Tübingen this week to kick our bridge project: "Understanding the Resilience to Stress from Rodents to Humans" with Lydia Kogler

We found lower GDAP1 DNA methlyation and lower H3K4me3 level in patients with alcohol use disorder. H3K4me3 levels normalized after abstinence-based therapy, whereas DNA methylation levels remained unchanged. We could not find any differences in GDAP1 expression. #alcoholusedisorder #epigenetics
