Some people need to understand this.

If you find that I'm generally in agreement with you on political matters, don't jump down my throat the moment I'm not.

If you cannot stand any criticism of your beloved Starmer/Davey/Polanski at all, then you're no longer engaged in politics, but tribalism.

Don’t looks at this👇🏼there’s nothing to see here 🙈🙈

But look at the boats… thousands .. no millions of them arriving every hour full of men of fighting age, carrying AK47’s just don’t look closely at Farage’s finances 👀👀

HMRC is examining finances of George Cottrell, advisor to Farage, who he says is like a son

Cottrell was charged in US for
money laundering, wire fraud, blackmail & extortion. He conspired to launder millions of $’s of drug money using offshore bank accounts

No wonder he’s in bed with Reform 🤷🏼‍♂️

As Alice says, this is beautiful, but please see her post below this one, which is both beautiful and deeply moving. ❤

You're lucky!

Actually, I live on the Middle Level in the Fens. The quality of water management practice is exemplary.

The issue of a lack of maintenance budget remains.

The new shiny stuff is lovely, but the old stuff needs looking after too.

Oh, Lord no.

Better comms needed all around.

Hello. Me again.

Love to know more about number 1.

Flood defence schemes take years to plan. I suspect most, if not all of these, are a success of the last government.

Additionally, while capital budgets rise, resource budgets continue to fall, leaving existing defences falling into disrepair.

They haven't changed a bit.

Jenrick would've loved to have come up with that.

Deep down, he craves being able to say it.

They think Putin is a Communist?

They really do live in the past.

I got through 2 layers of password reset on my Amazon account only to discover it's linked to my wife's mobile phone.

Why? For the love of Satan, why?
nigel-hewlett.bsky.social
Yes, but they should have known where they sold the fish they caught. It was ludicrous to think that the French and Spanish would sell out their own fishers.

They had to have known their own industry.

Rees-Mogg isn't posh at all.

It's an act.
nigel-hewlett.bsky.social
No more than fishing towns stopped to think if they actually knew more about the industry that some stock broker posh frog.

Christ no. My brother lives on the edge of Newark. They're best off in their own little racist bubble.

We don't want to encourage them out.

I absolutely guarantee, on my mother's life (she's getting on a bit, so this isn't high stakes) that Kemi Badenoch has never read one single page of Terry Pratchett.

Not bloody one.
rmcunliffe.bsky.social
Kemi Badenoch says her favourite author is Terry Pratchett. One wonders what draws her to the Discworld. The Vimes Boots theory of inequality? The celebration of diversity in Ankh Morpork? The lesson that those who claim to have the answers are not to be trusted?

The inability of so many people in this country to separate the perpetrators of a crime from those who just happen to share a faith remains something I cannot understand.

It's othering, in whatever form it takes.

And it needs to stop.

Especially as he looks like he has to avoid direct sunlight.

Can you get sausage rolls in the UEA?

We must emulate the United Arab Emirates, apparently.

Where to even start...?
nigel-hewlett.bsky.social
It's very firmly Reform out there.

If you visit the East of the county there's so many union flags and even the occasional Trump flag.

Even in what are clearly quite affluent areas.

Fear sells.

I was asked where I was going by French boarder control on a trip there in the 20th September.

My mangled French pronunciation of Meuse and Ardennes seemed to trigger an immediate loss of interest.

If all else fails, pig ignorance will see us through.
nigel-hewlett.bsky.social
There's no doubt about that. A digital trigger for overstaying our welcome will be easier to manager.

But (and I guess I'm being hopeful) I do still think the current additional requirements will remain more ad-hoc.

Interestingly...

There's no doubt that the lack of education plays a massive role.

Of the people I knew in the Peterborough area, nearly all went to Uni.

By the end of my course, we'd moved to rural Lincolnshire. Suddenly I was one of the few.

There was a real aspirational gap.

I think lives on.
