Between this and the tariffs, Trump is starting to fund his regime with an income stream outside Congress and the Constitution. He is building his own state superstructure on top of the State. This is an incredibly dangerous situation. He needs to be impeached, convicted, and removed ASAP.
Trump: “I am pleased to announce that the Interim Authorities in Venezuela will be turning over between 30 and 50 MILLION Barrels of High Quality, Sanctioned Oil, to the United States of America. This Oil will be sold at its Market Price, and that money will be controlled by me, as President”

Labour (and Starmer especially) are running scared of May election results. This proposal has nothing to do with capacity and everything to do with the government’s popularity.
The Electoral Commission has criticised the Government for proposing to delay 63 Council elections in May next year

It says elections should go ahead as planned & capacity issues linked to local government reform are not a valid reason for postponement

Electoral Commission responds to potential election postponements
We are concerned by the possibility of some council elections in May being postponed, and even more by any further postponement to those which already had been deferred from 2025.

The UK has rejected access to the EU’s €150bn SAFE defence fund - a serious mistake.

At a time of increased aggression from Russia and other hostile powers, turning away from coordinated European rearmament is deeply short-sighted.

@robfordmancs.bsky.social did I really hear you say on #R4WATO that elections next May would only be for posts that would be abolished the following year? This is not true! Those elected next May will serve at least until 2028, and given likely delays in the LGR process potentially for longer.
