I had a different last name then but this is the essay I wrote to Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein when I was 12. I got to visit DC as part of winning the contest and met with them personally.

Really long story but I left in 2009 after my mom died and I became homeless and the recession hit. I moved east to New Jersey and Pennsylvania and then moved to Washington because I missed the West Coast.

I set an alarm to wake up my bf before his work, not because he can't do it himself, but because I like to do it and I get to hear that adorable sleepy voice of his. Also, starting my day hearing him is a good way to begin the day. I just wish we weren't a couple timezones apart.
