Social media memory capsule reminds me that there was a time in 2016, during my PhD, when an Excel sheet like this made sense.

10 years ago today I moved back to the UK. Lots have happened for me since - dad passing, a book published, PhD completed, permanent job, flat in London. Don’t know what the future holds for me (and the world at large) but tonight, I’ll pop open a beer and just be grateful for my charmed life.

A few days late but it’s been an intense few days with moving but I’m finally living in London again. I’ll miss Birmingham but very glad to leave that regular long commutes behind.

This luggage bag has served me well for almost 2 decades but it's torn now. Looking for something similar, instead of the conventional boxy luggage options. Anyone got suggestions?

If there is a picture to represent how my life has been the past couple of months … this is it. 😬

Can’t say there wasn’t a moment when I wondered if any of my new students were here. But I had a great night out with some friends back here in a place I don’t think I’ve been for almost 2 decades!

Came into the office today and my colleague Laura left me gifts to celebrate my new publication, 2 years at King’s and my upcoming birthday. Positive vibes in academia for the win! 🥰

🚨 New publication! 🚨 Excited to share my new paper out in Information, Communication and Society, co-authored with the fantastic Amelia Johns and Paul Byron "Queering the ‘resourcing’ of LGBTQ+ young people in the Asia Pacific" www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.... (Open access!) 🌈🎓

Today marks my 2nd year at King’s. Still feels weird that I’m employed where I used to study but it’s been quite a couple of years - great colleagues, burn out, strikes, research/publications (a new one out today! 🥳), and (some) interesting students. Of course, getting to spend more time in London.

The problem with uncle duties for a good team is that they always make the next round 🤣😬🫣

Digging out more T-shirts (more like just going through them so they get a once a year wash when I’m back in Malaysia 🤣)

Together.

No LGB without the T.

Just found this T-shirt but I bought over a decade ago, maybe from Threadless, back when I actually believed so much in Twitter. So much sad feels wearing this today.

Taipei has been worth it just for this alone at the Raohe Night Market. Mum and I actually went back today for round two. 😬
July 29, 2023 at 1:26 PM
On annual leave - taking my mum on a short trip to Taipei. First time we’re both travelling abroad together just the two of us. No picture of her yet … maybe later. 😬
