Great day of documentary shooting with the legendary @andrewmanske.bsky.social for Rotating Planet. Black bear den in the middle of a recently burned forest was a highlight!

The flowers and mushrooms are still going strong in #JasperNationalPark. Hiked up Whistlers mountain this weekend. Glorious! Bonus: took the gondola down and saved the knees:)

I had the pleasure of being out on a wildfire documentary shoot with this legend last week. If you haven't seen Leanne Allison's work, I highly recommend starting with her NFB film Losing Blue, free to watch here: lnkd.in/eWxbgwxM

A beautiful red fox hanging out at Athabasca Falls in Jasper National Park. It’s clearly being fed. If it keeps approaching people, it will likely be destroyed. Folks, we are so happy to have you back here in Jasper, but please don’t feed the wildlife. It is not a kindness.

Great day on location at Old Fort Point, Jasper National Park for Canadian Wildlife Magazine with @johnemarriott.bsky.social. Wolf tracks, leopard trees, and the stark beauty of the burn.

Spotted “leopard” trees created when the extreme heat of the Jasper wildfire boiled the sapwood and the wind tore the bubbled bark away.

Removal of burned house debris is finally happening in Jasper. In my neighborhood, all the debris has to be “watered” to contain asbestos, a process that can be slowed by cold temps. Grateful it has begun. #JasperWildfire2024 #JasperNationalPark

Skating today on Mile 9 Lake, east #JasperNationalPark. Frozen toes, happy heart.

Winter has arrived here in #JasperNationalPark. The Athabasca River thickens with ice, and with the trees burned away, the snow reflects so much more light into the valley.

If you are wondering about how to go forward in the world right now, consider reading this book by @timothysnyder.bsky.social. It contains 20 lessons on protecting democracy, and has given me a framework with which to think about the big and small ways I can do my part.
