A brilliant talk by the ever-so-brilliant @danbanik.bsky.social on the politics of #poverty and #hope, raising a very pertinent point that while there are huge challenges, there's also 'hope'. Do listen. Link 👇🏼 @circleu.bsky.social

Thanks to @lnuccon.bsky.social for the generosity that made this short visit to the #SwedishNationalArchives at #Vadstena and #Jönköping possible. Working with the #Swedish documents on #SouthAsia within a #global scope was a wonderful experience indeed!

Hi. Can I be included? Thanks!

In #India, where 1/4th of the respondents believe #RamMandir as the most important work done by the government, it's no wonder that #health as voter's electoral priority is the least. But why is that so? This is the question I seek to explore in my current project from a historical perspective.

Bottom line: #vaccines, even though the process of making them was hurried, saved millions of lives during the #covid pandemic. But the continuing #vaccineinequality and #vaccinenationalism is a curse that must be dealt with. Related:

Belated updates on @bsky.app. Earlier this year, Arild Engelsen Ruud, Zaad Mahmood and I co-authored this write-up for #quintindia on #NarendraModi, #MannkiBaat and the art of #politicalcommunication. This is a prequel to our forthcoming journal article on the theme.

Mann Ki Baat: Interrogating Modi's Political Personae & the Art of Communication
Narendra Modi has skilfully cultivated a succession of unique political personas. Every one of these personae represents a distinct register, conveying specific values and ideas about his leadership.

Belated updates on @bsky.app. While the #JulyUprising in #Bangladesh was unfolding earlier this year, Arild Engelsen Ruud and I co-authored this write-up for the #ScroolIndia on the student protest movement and what it might entail. Link👇🏼

Will Bangladesh student protests be a catalyst for change or prelude to greater authoritarianism?
It is unlikely that the Sheikh Hasina regime will fall immediately. But its image has been badly hurt.
