There’s a Starbucks where I like to work, but the street in front has a red zone where people will illegally park, put on their hazard lights, and block an entire lane of traffic when there’s a parking lot merely feet away. It keeps me at a steady state of internal rage.

Ron Friedman was my first screenwriting teacher at USC, and I credit his cartoons as early inspirations for creating my own stories. He told me my writing reminded him of Confederacy of Dunces. I saw him at a Transformers convention in Burbank last March, and he pretended to remember me. Great guy.

Sean Astin actually has four fathers. John Astin married Patty Duke before he was 2-years-old, but Sean was told that Desi Arnaz Jr. was his real father. Patty and John divorced, and she married Mike Pearce, who became Sean’s 2nd stepfather. Then he learned his actual father was Michael Tell. Crazy.

I frequently watch Jimmy Kimmel’s monologues. He didn’t make any jokes about Charlie Kirk’s death. He made jokes about how the political right is using Charlie Kirk’s death to go after their enemies.

I found a coffee shop that operates in the outdoor seating of a pizza place until it opens. I got here at 9 am, and I’m forcing myself to work until noon, then rewarding myself with a slice (or two).
