My husband, also left handed, nearly failed kindergarten because they didn't have left handed scissors. His mother went to bat for him.

I'm looking forward to hopefully paying a visit next June, although I'm going to spend most of that trip closeted in an airport hotel talking shop.

But I plan on making some time to take the train downtown and maybe say hi to the lake. Plus, of course, get pizza.

above DC's minimum wage says a lot too, but that's an unrelated issue.

I'm not averse to your idea, I just know this area and can't immediately think of a good location unless Andrews has the room.

I don't know that there is any place in DC that would be suitable. Bear in mind that traffic here is utterly terrible and you don't have to go far to be up to a two hour commute...

The nearest recently closed base (and that was 20 years ago) is in Hampton, from what I can tell.

There's a balance here. But a lot of people who think congresspeople are rich off of their salary haven't looked at housing costs in DC.

I don't think we would get more young people running if we forced them to live in poverty. Also, I don't think it would help

There should, but here's the thing, they need to have housing in DC AND in their constituency.

When a one bedroom in DC will run you about 2k...

There are already congresspeople sleeping in their offices *routinely* to avoid those costs, and people who aren't getting enough sleep aren't who

My mother was beaten in an attempt to convert her to being right handed. It didn't work.

She didn't learn to write until she was 11.

(I'm not saying this isn't more harmful, but you have to understand that kids WERE tortured for being left handed).

Nobody should be asked to potentially literally *die* to save the environment. My mother had severe asthma. I wouldn't even exist without inhalers, because she probably wouldn't have lived long enough to get pregnant and if she did would never have successfully
