I’ve taken quite some time to dig into this case, and tell the story of two teenagers: one who was murdered, and another who was wrongly prosecuted for that murder. This is their story:

The Victorian DPP is appealing Erin Patterson‘s sentence on the basis it was “manifestly inadequate”.

On 8 September, Patterson was sentenced to life with a non-parole period of 33 years for the murders of Don and Gail Patterson and Heather Wilkinson, and the attempted murder of Ian Wilkinson.

In 2023, I spent a few months investigating why so many Aboriginal pedestrians were killed in road accidents in the NT.
