My A-level General Studies classes clashed with other classes, so for two years several of my friends and I never attended a single class, with the understanding and permission of the school. I got an A, as did many of us, showing how pointless the subject really was.

That sounds like Buckethead, only much less prolific

The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins. I've not read it, but I think it would annoy the god-botherers.

Did you sustain any injuries while pulling that tape off? I'm thinking band-aid removal levels of pain triggering a raking with claws.

I wanted to refresh my gaming PC at 3-4 years. It's now nearly ten years old and every time I think I might upgrade bits of it, the component prices skyrocket again.

As I understand it, DMV isn't even a universal term in the States. Some states have a DoT instead.

Regardless of the people behind this, I won't be using the app: no matter how badly 30 years of the net has screwed with my attention span, it's still longer than six seconds.

Not a war. A Special Military Operation.

From childhood to my late 20s I had migraines 1-2 times a week, often severe, which I dosed each time, usually to little effect. Someone in my 30s I realised that I rarely got the headache and I stopped buying the drugs. Now I get aura every few weeks and a headache every few months. Weird.

Trump is a criminal, an adjudicated rapist, a racist, a command, a thief and an imbecile.

Apple displayed their usual creativity by seeing that everyone else put a plus on their streamer and copying it. Now watch everyone else copy Apple by removing it. And HBO Max will rebrand again to add a plus sign, then remove it, then add an asterisk, wait a year, rinse and repeat...

I wonder if he actually has taste for gold, or if he's just seen it in Saddam's palaces and thinks that what powerful men choose, so he'd better choose the same or people might mistake him for a pauper. I think he has the same taste as he does intelligence: none.

I gave up trying once everyone got mobiles. Mom, dad, sister, BIL, niece, nephew, landlines, work numbers... just too many to keep track of. These days I know mine, my dad's, landline and Noel Edmonds at the Swap Shop.

I was born and raised in the UK, with dual US citizenship. When I was younger, I thought that I might like to live over there, but with Trump, fascism, guns, disease, racism and medical industry being what they are, I'd rather stay here now.

YouTubers, too. So many vids are unedited steam-of-consciousness rambles with all the flubs left in or, at best, single takes with frequent jarring cuts to excise the flubs. @techconnectify.bsky.social is a rare exception.

Not really, but seeing the same video three times with different thumbnails does annoy me. Feels almost like it's trying to trick me into watching it multiple times.

I prefer "Twitter, temporarily known as X". The opportunity in me thinks that the Muskrat will eventually tire of it, sell it, and the rescuers will revert the name.

Times like this make me wish I did have a sub to cancel, but I don't. I guess I'll have to do the next best thing: pirate their media.
September 18, 2025 at 4:38 AM
What makes them even worse is that they're often stream-of-consciousness 30 minute rambles when the actual information could be scripted into 30 seconds

The app resets to the top of your feed every time you restart it, which I find infuriating. I'd prefer to be taken back to where I left it, like Twitter/Mastodon do.

Time for another impeachment, since SCOTUS made him criminally untouchable.

I live in the UK. Larger towns/cities are 10-30 miles away, rush hour driving is lucky to average 25-30 mph. We had a train service until the 60s, now the line in one direction has houses on it and the other is only used by steam trains. Buses are infrequent. It's basically cars or nothing.

I've watched episodes of BBC Click (RIP) with subs that were frequently gibberish and usually significantly out of sync. It was only a 22 minute program, no excuse for not watching it once and correcting them subs before release. Probably wouldn't have taken more than an extra five minutes.

I always add prisons and policing to that list because if corporations profit from locking people up, then you get quotas for prison sentences and lobbying for more laws with prison sentences (as has already been seen in the USA). Insurance too: corps incentivised to refuse payouts to keep profiting
