Except I have a ton of friends who lost their jobs both in government and private sector who can’t find work. It’s been over a year for some and one who was an Amazon Software manager is about to be homeless. It’s not recession terrible but it’s still not great.

You’re assuming there is no fraud, waste or abuse. That’s 30% of overpaid bills right there.

Since I work in the healthcare spend space, I have to research these ideas to learn they have better alternatives (ex: there are cheaper PBMs because they take smaller commissions) or that a hypothetical solution (ex: trust health insurance such as SAG) only work if the processes are better.

At this point I’m not sure Cuban has the time to really figure the issue out, since he comes up with a different solution to healthcare every few months but isn’t looking at the core issues.

For example, I just had someone who had a ffr CT that said he had 70% blockage, but NO symptoms. He got pressured to get a Cath done. To find out ffr CTs have a wildly bad false-positive rate and his actual blockage is 30%. He risked an unnecessary stent which always leads to more stents.

I misunderstood something. The military will not be paid in 2 weeks. It’s more of a technicality.

From my understanding the military is paid with a separate pool of money so they are paid. However the Government Employee Fair Treatment Act requires back pay of federal employees during a shutdown.

So when they’re looking at the costs it’s dependent on the itemized invoice. Most hospitals you need to call in to get the real bill through the mail. My company uses specialized physicians to review and renegotiate these claims.

About 30% of health case is waste, fraud and abuse. That turns medical waste fraud and abuse into a trillion dollar business. Start looking there and the funding gets easier.

So I need to add data to this statement. Both the Kaiser Family Foundation and myself (I was able to recreate this data using a small subset of historical data) have found that commercial insurance companies are paying 250% above Medicare/Medicaid payments.

My company saves $145,002 per patient per year on infusion transfers like Privigen, Gammagard, and Infliximab. We also save $170,627 per patient per year on high-cost drug carve-outs. You mean like that?

I don’t actually know anyone who has a good concierge doctor. They tend to get unnecessary treatments and poor care.

If it makes you feel better rich and famous people get terrible healthcare because hospitals only save lives if they do surgery vs. first medication approach. Ex: I asked my dad who is a cardiothoracic surgeon about the case for a quintuple bypass and he said you only need four to live.

You can get a list of hospitals that are funded with Medicaid payments, to figure out which will close. There are many hospitals that are 100% Medicaid funded and most are rural.

If not done properly, inflation, reduce t-bill interest rates. So part of the reason we got out of the last recession was our interest rate was higher so it could be lowered to incentivize investing.
