The lighting, the position of the camera below like a dutch angle, the way Sephiroth is imposed on the frame as well as looking past it, and if you have played it the music being very ominous, this is the meaning of this scene and it exists *as is*, not as a limitation.

I still remember when they made that FF7 gacha and they were using this as a comparison for the scene and like yeah what happens in the scene might have come out of one person (we don't know this and cannot confirm) yet you can clearly see how many more aspects go into the development process

Obviously, technology matters in this factor but that is disconnected from how FF7 ended up being by the end of it. FF7 exists not as a game out of the limitations of that time but it ends up being tested against time, as its own creation. And I would say, it very much holds up

It's impossible to make an FG that ALL of its aspects work like this, but imo the more you are able to frame it as something a person can understand it without the need to have someone explain it to you, the faster their understanding on others aspects become, as well as they don't get overwhelmed

Like playing Mario Bros. for example, you jump, most people never have to be explained pressing a direction affects the trajectory, it just comes naturally to you that this abstract thing exists in the first place, and this is hard to do for more abstract gameplay things like, a shoryu, for example

Think of for example, would you had EVER naturally understood anti-airs existed, without someone or somewhere learning that A) it is a thing, and B) it is normally in down fierce? I don't think so, I needed someone to explain this to me, or be shown this is how this aspect worked in the first place

This is something I think of a lot, but I started from traditional fighters, yet playing a non-traditional one like Smash, it was impressive how I was able to understand DI as a concept *without* needing any explanation, it just felt natural, because it was ingrained to the feeling of the game
