Very low bar to clear which you seem weirdly argumentative about for like 5 days now.

If you follow the implications of my argument, which you don't agree with, is that Dem pols should make FRA (or any plan to curb gerrymandering) pretty high on a list, along with several other interrelated priorities, in order to gain trust and accountability to the thing they say they care about...

Yeah it would be nice if that guy stepped away.

They are giving it to Heartland because it produces disinformation for them. This disinformation is meant to help the Republican Party. They obviously don't care about anything DEI or they wouldn't fund orgs that help R's get elected. This isn't difficult logic.

Issues aren't 'political advertising'. They are specifically talking about electioneering in the rulesm But like MAGA, you will never admit your misdirection.
November 18, 2025 at 2:19 AM
And it really doesn't matter if it comes directly from the corps or from the executives or shareholders. It's still $$ that millions of Dems through their purchases are giving directly to their enemies. Call me crazy, seems like an important thing to try to curb.
November 18, 2025 at 2:16 AM
Drop in the bucket, yes, and why they really don't care.

than unfunded "grassroots progressives". Although, as you pointed out, at least for RCV some groups came up with some money. I guess I'll look into these orgs more and stop wasting my time with people like you who don't care much about the issue.
November 18, 2025 at 12:58 AM
Glad you take back your statement on 'issue advocacy'. As we both agree now, of course staff can advocate for issues. You still think these huge staffs are just too overworked to focus on too many issues. I think they should be a much better source for advocacy ...
November 18, 2025 at 12:58 AM
Depends on lots of factors. I'm not reflexively against all tariffs, no.
November 18, 2025 at 12:51 AM
And in half the states, corporations can directly fund state lawmakers. Of course we all know the loopholes in Federal funding as well.

I mean they directly fund these groups pushing this stuff, and more, like the article pointed out.

Also, they are only against tariffs that negatively affect their industry. Pretty sure they were and are A-OK with tariffs on Chinese EV's, solar panels and batteries. I mean come on...so silly.
November 18, 2025 at 12:16 AM
Very silly indeed. Are you sitting here telling me that Dem pols shouldn't worry about the power that the FF industry has over our lives and politics? Really??? Another non-issue? Who cares if on one issue there might be some narrow overlap of interests. ...
November 18, 2025 at 12:15 AM
As I said, they can propogandize about issues. So staff could put out lots of information about FRA if they wanted to. Glad you agree.
November 17, 2025 at 11:38 PM
Your last point makes no sense. FF industry didn't stop Trump from cutting all the LIHEAP staff.
November 17, 2025 at 11:36 PM
These aren't random. The FF industry consistently funds groups pushing school choice, anti-trans, anti-immigrant, anti-abortion, etc... you can deny it, but it doesn't make it less true. A wise Dem Party would run a full out assault on trying to lessen FF influence.
November 17, 2025 at 11:32 PM
Dem pols are allowed to say what they don't like about the bill or give their alternate plans. I very much wish they would do so, instead of being silent!!! Perhaps you haven't been listening?

You never get flyers in the mail from your Congressman? The ones I get are filled with horrible propaganda.

They put quotes from the American Petroleum Institute right there. Wouldn't be surprised if the article was written by someone from API.

I just gave you the lines of the text. In case you weren't aware of what staffs already do, they put out statements all the time on issues. I'm sure FF co's may write up some of these position statements for staffers. Not sure what you're not understanding.
