Road Construction Halted During Major Events to Ease Traffic
The city will pause road construction projects in key areas during three major events this fall and winter to reduce traffic congestion for visitors and residents. The Department of Municipal Development announced on Aug. 28 it would halt construction around the EXPO New Mexico State Fair grounds beginning Sept. 4, marking the start of seasonal moratoriums that will also cover the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta and the holiday shopping season.

Marble Brewery Inks Deal to Brew Bosque Beers
What started as a regulatory snag for one of Albuquerque’s top breweries has turned into a first-of-its-kind partnership in New Mexico’s craft beer scene. Marble Brewery confirmed to City Desk that it will produce and distribute Bosque Brewing’s flagship beers statewide while Bosque works through wastewater compliance issues at its facility in the Town of Bernalillo. Former Sandoval County detective sentenced to 6 years for child exploitation crimes
A former Sandoval County Sheriff’s Office detective was sentenced Friday to six years in prison after pleading no contest to charges related to child sexual exploitation material. Robert Strand, 42, was sentenced by Judge Christopher G. Sparklight launches campaign to support Rio Rancho food pantry
Internet provider Sparklight announced Monday it will donate money to a local food pantry through a new customer referral program that rewards both existing and new customers. The “Connections That Give Back” campaign, which runs from Sept. 8 to Oct. 6, will give $50 prepaid cards to both the referring customer and their friend when the new customer signs up for Sparklight internet service and maintains it for 30 days, according to a company news release.

State inspectors find needles, blood, and chemical exposure at PresNow Clinic
PresNow, a 24/7 urgent and emergency care provider in Albuquerque, is facing penalties for workplace safety violations after state inspectors reportedly found multiple serious health violations that put employees at risk. The New Mexico Environment Department’s Occupational Health and Safety Bureau recently issued three citations to PresNow’s Paseo del Norte location for serious violations. Regulators said the facility failed to properly manage hazardous pharmaceutical waste.
