I was privileged to see this in conjunction with a Q&A with Peck, who shared how his background as a Haitian who grew up in the Congo honed his skills at picking up newspeak and the thinking behind some editorial choices (such as the photo of Orwell and his Indian nursemaid as bookends for the film)

That Jeopardy skit on SNL with Bad Bunny was a metacommentary on immigrant/minority life: you have the capabilities, but you don’t get credit due to some random rule you don’t fully understand, and someone else seizes on your solutions and profits from them. Also, the condescension.

Perhaps at this point, he should be referred to as "superstar" rather than "Latin superstar"? He is the biggest musical artist in the world, streaming-wise and in other measures.

Or as George Lakoff put it for the US, Democrats are permissive mothers while Republicans are strict fathers. Although he formulated that about ten years ago, and these days the family analogy would be far more dysfunctional.

FBI has been steadily diverting resources away from domestic terrorism investigations, decimating specialized units & discontinuing tools used to track extremism. the admin also gutted millions in federal terrorism-prevention grants. it's effectively abandoned the fight against homegrown violence.

She actually doesn’t reach that conclusion. She says feminism happened but doesn’t argue for how it changed beliefs or when, or how out of date the Epstein writers were in 2003. It’s a flawed essay IMO.
