16.) Speaking of cops in Japan, Patlabor: the Early Days is a far more comedic look at an alternate timeline for Japan. Only in this one, the police use specialized mechs to help keep the peace. This show is HILARIOUS and packed with 90s anime goodness!

12.) How am I gonna talk about anime without talking about Redline? This is a sci-fi racing movie seven years in the making, and WOW does it show in the animation. Aside from being a visual spectacle, it has so much heart between its memorable characters, soundtrack, and story. BIG RECOMMEND

11.) Re: Zero. Even if this show wasn’t excellent, (which it is) it’d get a nod just for how incredible @sonicmega.bsky.social and the rest of the English dub’s performances are. This is one of the shows I watch when I want to think about what goes into a good anime performance!

Time for some movies! This one is very heartfelt, emotional, and “messy” for lack of a better word. In a good way tho! There’s some strong growth throughout this film from the cast and it got me pretty good.

10.) BlueLock! An anime where if you tell any character it’s not that deep they would beat you within an inch of your life. It IS that deep. It’s ALWAYS that deep. I don’t watch much sports anime but this one’s very intense with memorable characters and another strong dub!

What a well-executed shonen. Tons of amazing characters, (that the internet justifiably went crazy for) and some of the best fights I’ve seen in YEARS (the ones in the bathroom and with the kung fu rabbits were peak IYKYN)
