I think in light of all the provocations, it’s definitely reasonable to find ways to protect yourself while protesting. Organizers should really think about these things too.

I think my pessimism is about the potential for incoming ugly parts more than the end of the republic. Something has to change, but I guess I should take a reassurance in the fact that something always does.

Social media as a way to compliment and expand my real life has always been positive.

I don’t always enjoy it when it tries to be entertainment.

When social media was new, Facebook enhanced my social life in college and serendipitously allowed me to get involved in national politics.

Instagram has been great for connecting with people doing interesting projects.

Bluesky has been great connecting with people outside of my direct community.
