Last week's #ISCE46 conference in Lille was interesting and inspiring. It was great to attend the various fascinating panels and catch up with colleagues. The online sessions may help to ease, but not stop, the inevitable post-conference blues.

When it comes to AI, it's important to remember that 'intelligence' has a few different meanings...

After years of tangling with pro-A.I. people I've come to the conclusion they are all soulless sociopaths, devoid of vision or true artistic intent. They offer nothing of value, just like their preferred plagiarism software.

I've imported most of my old tweets. Big step in leaving Twitter. Still, it's not easy to leave those who aren't here yet.

Looking at some of the artefacts (such as pestels) in the museum, I couldn't help but wonder if some of them had other, well, more pleasurable uses. I had this suspicion because women's experiences are still often overlooked and neglected when it comes to reconstructing the past.

I've received an email from a predatory journal, but with a catch. They say: "As an American academic publishing group, we wish to become your friends if necessary."
How could I resist such an offer?

I'm aware that it's a first world problem, but I hate longer texts that are left-aligned. Justified, FTW.

I'm reading an article in which the author quotes Simone de Beavoir. It's not a big mistake, but I don't understand how anyone (author, reviewers, editors) could have missed the spelling error. As if she were not one of the most influential feminist writers of all time.

Every academic's phone is full of photos of interesting conference slides that they will never look at again.

It's interesting to see how our approach to Twitter has changed over the years. A few years ago, my dashboard would have been full of the #ische44 hashtag; now, hardly anything. (I haven't tweeted either.) What could be the reason?

One of the world's most cited scientists is suspended due to flawed scientometric practices. This is just one example of a skewed system that prioritizes citation counts over true scientific impact.

I've asked the AI about its possible role in HoE research.
"AI technology can assist in analyzing vast amounts of data and uncovering patterns that we may have missed otherwise. This can help us gain deeper insights into historical events and trends. #HistoryofEducation #AI"
