Excited to get my hands on the first print copies of my recently published book, which examines the constitutional and social dimensions of the freedom to conduct a business in EU law, which I argue can and should be reconceptualised in (fundamental) social rights terms.

Challenging to condense the book's arguments into 30 second soundbites while also appearing on camera but useful to think about presenting research in new ways.

What to learn more about intersectionality and citizens' assemblies? Check out the newly launched @eu-ciembly.bsky.social glossary covering the key concepts governing our integration of intersectional equality, inclusion, and deliberation in citizens' assembly design: www.eu-ciembly.eu/en/glossary

Thanks again to Ilias and Sanna for organising such a great workshop on EU law in a volatile and uncertain world. Looking forward to seeing the outcome of all this great research!

Looking forward to this workshop tomorrow at City Law School on the topic of EU Law for a Volatile and Uncertain World, and to meeting new colleagues. I will be discussing all things intersectionality and citizens' assemblies, including the deficiencies within the existing EU equality law framework.

Nice to see that the EU-CIEMBY project, and the value of intersectional inclusiveness in democratic participation and deliberation, are already gaining recognition among policy-makers. Watch this space for more news on our planned citizens' assembly pilot in Cyprus next year.🇨🇾🇪🇺👥

In particular, the right to work acts as a bridge between an economic (freedoms) and a social (rights) conception of freedom of contract as a component of wider business freedoms.

I argue that there are internal and external social dimensions to the freedom to conduct a business, which help us to understand its relationship to fundamental social rights, a relationship that need not be viewed as inherently antagonistic.

Was nice to catch up with colleagues at the Essex human rights research away day today and to hear about the exciting human rights work being conducted. I presented part of my book exploring the social dimensions of the freedom to conduct a business as a fundamental right in EU law.
