Some more extended, rambly thoughts I had.
Wishing the best to the team, I really respect their dedication to this, and seeing them get back on track after the messy past year and a half is great, I just hope they stick the landing.

Incredibly unsure about the changes Clash are making, it feels as though they want to reinvent the wheel on the game's combat when it's not something that really needs changing imo. Can't say a whole lot, though without playing it for myself

A variety of Toons are engaged in a pie-throwing battle. In the background are a variety of piled-up Gags, the Gag-N-Go with Reid cheering them on, and the Gag shop slightly out of frame.

It is so incredibly disappointing to see Schell Games pump out AI slop.

Without Toontown, I'm sure other games like Club Penguin could've still existed, but they'd be in a very different form to what we know today. The team behind Wizard101 have openly admitted to being heavily inspired by the game as just one example.

Toontown was a very ambitious project for the time it was made. No other big-budget MMOs that kids could play along with their parents really existed then. The Disney VR Studio had to pitch the game as an "online theme park" just to get it approved by the higher ups.

Features such as Speedchat were originally created for TTO, and became staples in family friendly virtual worlds and MMOs. Look at most of these 2000s games, and you'll find influence from Toontown all over the place.

Something I honestly don't think Toontown gets enough credit for is its impact on MMO games as a whole.
It came out over a year before World of Warcraft changed the scene, and was one of the first games in the genre directed towards a family audience.

I got a response on Tumblr from one of the lead artists of the game!!! It turns out that Toontown Online was in fact one of the big inspirations for Goofville in Goat Simulator 3!

They also hope we're all having a good time with our community :)
A screenshot of the Tumblr blog erin-draws. A user named just-a-blu-toon asks:

"Hi! Not sure if this account is the best place to ask but, if I could I'd like to ask about something regarding Goat Simulator 3, if that's alright, and I figured since you were an artist for it I could reach out to you.

In a somewhat-recent DLC for the game, Multiverse of Nonsense, there's this one area that's very... "Cartoony" in nature and design. By any chance, was this inspired by anything specific? It's been somewhat of a topic of a community around a defunct Disney MMO called Toontown Online, and how the area in Goat Simulator 3 seems to have a striking number of similarities to said MMO, so I was curious if maybe it was intended to be a reference, or just pulled inspiration from it?

Apologies if this is something you can't answer, but thank you for your time regardless!"

erin-draws replies, stating:
"I never expected to get a question about goat sim on here, wow! Hello!

"Goofville" in the DLC was inspired by a bunch of different cartoony sources, and one of them was indeed Toontown Online. I can't really recall if we tried to make an intentional reference to it, but I remember that we looked at pictures and were amazed by how it looked like an offbrand low-budget disney copy, with all the wonky characters, but actually was official.

Did you say there's a living community around that game? That's cool to hear, I hope you're all having a good time!!"

I'd definitely like to see what they'd have to say

For those unaware, last year a DLC released for Goat Simulator 3 which seems to reference Toontown Online! Note the proportions on the toon characters which seem to strongly resemble the models from TTO.

The early to mid 2010s were a depressingly bleak time for this community, this sort of behavior was so normalised for such a long time.

A bit darker compared to what I usually post, but Pancake Pickleflipper, who you may know as the singer from Thank You Joey And The TTR Team put out a video today talking about their past harassment they experienced during their time in the TT community.
