hmm... I worked as a tech writer for Fortune 500 electronics firms for more than 30 years. In all that time, I recall engineers communicating with customers only a handful of times outside of focus groups. Most of the customer contacts occurred at the executive level with enterprise clients.

As a result, my friend's son spent most of kindergarten at home till unmasked kids recovered from COVID (that could have killed my friend's little boy).

You're SO right. My friend's son was being treated for leukemia when he started school during the pandemic. Most children wore masks, but some families didn't allow their kids to mask.

Over the last 40 years, I've experienced wages decline for writers in the electronics industry while executive pay has continued to soar. Profit-centered, "trickle-down management" has given us dissatisfied customers, expensive, untested products, and disillusioned workers.
