There are only two situations where I've seen people actually use the term:

1. Lesbian parents when specifying which of the two of them gave birth

2. Trans men and non-binary people who have kids using that term *for themselves*

Everyone complaining that they’re tired of this discourse is missing the point that the discourse itself is a holiday tradition and people being annoyed about the discourse is also holiday tradition and traditions are important.
