Caught Steve Gunn last night at SPACE in Portland (with Chris Forsyth opening). Really wonderful show, with a great mix of old songs, a handful of songs from his new album, and a cover of I’ll Be Your Mirror.

Easily worth dragging myself out on a cold-ass night in Portland.

Have I talked about my absolute love for this album here? I am not sure that I have. Anyway: a brilliant fucking album combining jazz, contemporary classical, and pop music. Beautiful music in which to lose yourself. The perfect late night headphone listen.

This is Kikagaku Moyo’s drummer/vocalist’s first solo album. It’s really cool. I’m calling it Japanese electronic psych-rock

One of the best examples of enshitification is Evernote.

For years it was a good notes app and because of that I used it to store recipes. I haven’t regularly used it in years but I have a small handful of Thanksgiving recipes stored there that I have been to lazy to move.

Every single time […]

The new Steve Gunn is really a lovely album. It is *incredibly* chill, but if you’re in the mood for this music, slowly unfolding and revealing itself, you’re gonna love this.

Pretty much as great as I expected this to be. A great great listen, particularly on good headphones. Music that tickles the brain.

This is just so damn good. The perfect late night headphone listen. This continuous, repetitive, shape-shifting blob of music that you just lose yourself in, delighting in subtle and not so subtle shifts in the music.

There are entire youTube channels that run on people discovering that carpeted bathrooms exist and you can find photos of them in real estate listings.

And yet every single time I see another one I'm just as shocked and perplexed as the first time.

I’ve really been digging these Natural Information Society digital compilations. They’ve released three of them and all are fantastic. A great opportunity to check out a bunch of their back catalog, which is not on all streaming platforms. While I’ve really […]

Great seeing Jeff Tweedy at The State Theatre tonight. (yes, that’s John Stirratt on guitar; he sat in on It’s Just That Simple and California Stars).

Plus! It’s the 15th anniversary of the reopening of The State Theatre, easily the venue where I’ve seen […]

I first saw David Byrne live thirty-six years ago at the Orpheum in Boston on the Rei Momo tour—my first concert! Since then I’ve seen him nine more times.

Needless to say, I’m more than a little excited to see him tomorrow night in Portland.

Lately I’ve been seeing racist/homophobic/misogynistic stickers around San Francisco, so I made my own to cover up the hate. https://docpop.org/2025/10/some-free-sticker-designs-and-where-to-print-them/

Feeling very fortunate and happy that I was able to get back to Emirates with my son, brother, and nephew for my first Arsenal match in 13 years. Seeing a win which helped them move to the top of the table was a nice bonus. #COYG

So the new Geese album is … fucking fantastic.

It definitely took me a few listens. The sound of the album was a little disorienting to me at first? But now that I’ve connected with it? It is easily one of my favorite albums of the year and possibly my #1.

Just a handful of songs into the new Jeff Tweedy LP and I can already tell: this is a special fucking album.

This makes me quite happy.

Comey sucks, of course, but his indictment feels like another significant, very bad step toward authoritarianism.
