Exactly 104 years ago on January 11, 1922 doctors injected the first dose of insulin to a 13 year old boy in Toronto who was dying from diabetes.

This first dose failed.

12 days later the doctors decided to try again.
Amazingly, this time seemed to work!

Diabetes was no longer a death sentence.🇨🇦

Canada says it’s investing $244.2M into NRC IRAP (starting 2025–26) to launch Defence Industry Assist for Canadian SMEs.

Essentially this means:
Funding + advice for high-potential, innovative SMEs building defence and dual-use tech.

Happy to see emphasis on defence and innovation.

Bell worked from the Bell Homestead area, and a Bell Telephone company operated in Brantford by 1877. 🇨🇦☎️

Hinton + his students, fresh off the AlexNet moment.

It signaled: Canadian AI labs were now global recruiting targets. 🇨🇦💰
