If you're still using Upwork, they'll be using your data to train AI models as of Jan 5, 2026. Allegedly, this will be for your benefit and not third parties, but it includes your "work product" and communications. I suggest you opt out!

Despite not being a programmer myself, I had a great time at @pyconau.bsky.social! It’s refreshing to see a queer-friendly, accessibility-focused tech conference (with a healthy dose of AI skepticism). Plus, they have a very fun sticker station! #PyConAU

I understand the frustration at mass tourism in Mexico City, but I think the common thread here is #Airbnb. It’s destroyed the housing market in CDMX, NYC, and Barcelona. It should be heavily regulated, if not banned, and responsible digital nomads should avoid using it.

Today, more than 26,000 properties in Mexico City are currently listed on Airbnb, according to the Inside Airbnb, an advocacy organization that tracks the company’s impact on residential communities through data. That’s compared to 36,000 properties in New York City and 19,000 in Barcelona, where protests have also broken out. “The government has treated housing like it’s merchandise,” Salinas said. The actions the government is taking “are completely insufficient. The federal government needs to be intervening far more nowadays.”

While I was in #Bolivia, I had the chance to ride the #telerifico (cable car) system around #LaPaz. Truly one of the most impressive #publictransit systems in the world! You can spend hours doing a full loop of the major lines, which connect all of the main areas of the city.

The room was massive - with a ladder, five beds, and doors and curtains that worked on a pulley system - and I was the only one staying in it! It cost around $50 USD/night.

After taking the bus to Bolivia, I stayed in this absurd hotel that looked like something out of a #Gaudi exhibit. Truly have no idea why it was built here in a small seaside village!
