Louise Fletcher was such an amazing actress. I'm so impressed that she played two of the most memorable villains ever, and yet was still such a nice person in real life. ❤️

I live in Kilkenny city by the way.

I still live here, yeah. Some of my father's family live in New Ross and nearby villages, and my grandad on my mother's side is from Ballyhine, which is just a short distance outside Wexford Town.

My family, on both my mother's and father's side, are from Wexford, so I've spent a lot of time there over the years. Such a beautiful county.

I'm from Kilkenny myself.

Speaking of, I did a search for TrekCulture on Facebook a few days ago, and your name was the first thing to pop up, so I sent you a friend request. Feel free to ignore it ... or not. 😉

I can see how that will go. 🤣

Another time I was that impressed with the writing in a game was for a Neverwinter Nights mod called Elegia Eternum, written by a designer called Stefan Gagne. He was a genius at designing story rich NWN mods. His other ones Penultima 1 and 2 were amazing too. Definitely worth checking out.

Huh! Itch.io says I bought this version already. I have no memory of doing that. Cool. 😎

I will definitely have to give it another go. I never finished it originally. I got stuck in a labyrinth on day 5 IIRC. I was just looking it up and learned there is an updated version with graphics which was released in 2018 for its 20th anniversary. I am definitely going to get that.

I have the entire series on DVD, the original mini-series, The Final Battle, and the 1985 series. Okay, the 1985 series isn't quite as good, but the rest is classic 80s television.

I did, and I loved it. It's one of the most (if not the most) well written and atmospheric adventure games I've ever played. A masterpiece.

Yeah, kid. Your parents obviously don't appreciate decent computers. I strongly suggest you leave them and find some who do. 😛

Just tried it. That's really good. Nice colourful sprites and everything.

It's a great place to live ... until Godzilla emerges from the sea and starts tearing it up and eating the residents. 😱

I can still remember watching this ad all those years ago.

Maybe get the guys from Car SOS to fully restore it. 🤪

That's right yeah. I remember reading a review of the QL version in Sinclair User. I did get a copy of the Spectrum version many years later.
January 24, 2026 at 11:49 AM
Cool. Never saw that version before. The ST was commercially dead by that point though, and it would be another two years before I would own a PC.

Very nice. What are the three on the right? The white one in particular looks intriguing.

*After all this time, I still haven't been able to escape being eaten by the cat at the very beginning. I would look up a solution, but out of obstinance I've always wanted to solve it myself. One day...
