trying to work on stronger, sharper a bit more stylized rendering shape. Overall I don't really like the rendering and value of the central character, since I had to do a lot of color adjustment on her to balance the whole piece.

I'm a little bit more proficient in designing these kind of decorative art for marginalia. Though not directly based on illumination, this is more related to it than my previous attempt in a previous comm piece (2nd pic) which is based on bobbin lace.

These are supposed to be a made-up ancient script, primarily based on character encoding method or alternative writing script like Braille, Morse or QR code. Out of time so I just rearranged and aligned some basic shapes and called it a day.

I really like this line here, a non-diegetic graphic acting as diegetic element (or vice versa) is something I like to include in my work. Though maybe the tear here is kinda cheesy

I've been learning 5 new kanji a day for almost half a year now. It's slow compared to what I saw people shared on the Internet, but I'm happy with whatever progress I can make (～￣▽￣)～ Writing difficult kanji down is pretty meditative but stroke orders are confusing sometimes.
