Yep. And hey- it's not like it's a moral failing to enjoy some good old-fashioned cinematic junk food! No reason to get defensive over it- enjoy what you enjoy- but trying to pretend that Smurf Pocahontas (In! Spaaaaace!) is doing something incredibly deep and meaningful and new is just silly.

Like, tinfoil hat for a moment, but why go to bat if you aren't financially and/or professionally invested? The former is a bad enough conflict of interest, but the latter- potentially using genAI in his own work- could call into question any of his reporting that hasn't been independently verified.

Honestly, the post itself had me raising an eyebrow, but this subsequent crashout has me wondering if there's more to it. Between his editorialized posting of the "additional context" from that interview the other day and this, seems to me like he's probably got a vested interest in genAI somehow.

I sympathize for folks who want to be off, but for me it means a slow day when I can finally make progress on projects without being dragged away every 30 mins for trivial heldesk-level nonsense that could be solved without my intervention by the judicious application of two neurons and The Google.
