It lives! 70+ years old and the regulator tubes still hold 300 VDC within 1%. It still needs a new line cord, a permanent replacement for the Selenium rectifier, and recalibration. The cal is off because the carbon composition resistors have decreased in value.

One of my best finds there was this beast - A "General Scaler-Ratemeter model RCR-1" . It needed recapping, and the hundreds mechanical counter sticks now and then (as it does in this video). What a combination of Analog, Decatron, and mechanical counters!

Apropos of nothing, here's my grandfather's homework from 1932, which I just found and scanned. He came to the US in 1930, and just a few years later was an architect working on the runway extension at San Francisco's airport.

I broke up a cast iron tub as part of a renovation. It weighed 355 lbs. Castings have an appeal, especially when they're proudly branded. And dated. Jan 30th, 1947.
