I don't know much, but I love tech and getting myself in a mess with it.
They need to make you their community lead! Their team is great, but they are so busy they tend to forget this side of the project.

This ^ I had to learn. I admit I gave up the first time, thinking, "It looks like Windows", but it was not acting like it. Once I took my time and realized the nuances, researched a bit, I was good to go. Both for work and gaming, I am good to go. Lesson 1, ignore influencers pushing gaming distros.

I actually gave Solus a try because I would always see your posting updates. It is now what I am running on my main system. Trying out out AerynOS as well. Fedora was just a bit too much for me. EOS seemed solid as well.

Microsoft has always been stupid and loud about their ai slop ambition. Apple, like always, is shady af and tries to present this image that they "care" about people. In reality they are just better at hiding who they are. They are every bit the snake microslop is. It is why I went Linux not Apple

Cinnamon. You would think coming from Windows I would like it, but nope. I already had that experience; just not what I want. It is simple, nice, & I get why people are comfortable with it. But it is not for me. It was my least favorite experience.

XFCE is pretty wonderful. I learned it was older than KDE and GNome, but very flexible. I could be happy using it, but Wayland is something I desired. It was a solid system.

COSMIC is very cool, and I could see it one day being a DE I would use. The built-in tiling, the simlicity of Gnome with batteries included. But it needs some time to get there.

Gnome is beautiful out of the box, but holy plugin hell, Batman. Don't get me wrong, I get the simplicity of it. However, even if I want simple, too many very basic features missing out of the box is just insane. It is someone elses interpretation of an ideal desktop, which just doesn't match mine.

KDE allowed me to do everything I want without much effort or time. Ironically, I do not use a Windows layout. More of a MacOS layout, but I just found it better than Gnome overall by a good margin. Was easy to get some tiling WM features in it with Krohnkite.
