It was supposed to be "be gay do crime", not "be gay be crime". Magneto was right

Unpinned my post on preparedness and resiliency.

Apparently the prevailing strategy in the US is to just shrug and say it is what it is. You're all going to die, if you're lucky.

They don't scare me. They clearly have never left their houses.

Anyone care to explain why the Apple Music app on the mac is absolutely fucking terrible?
noobixcube.bsky.social
How wild is it that our muscles will just sometimes say “hey, dude, I think I’m just gonna try and rip myself in half for a minute. That cool with you?”

And then if it’s a bad one you wake up biting off a scream so you don’t wake anyone else up.

You're a monster! I don't even terminate my SSH sessions!

Does Deep Blue Sea count? Jurassic Park meets Jaws, on an offshore platform. It has a few deliberately funny moments. It's mostly by the numbers, possibly a bit dull, but it at least doesn't take itself too seriously.

My small donation may only amount to a dinner order, but I'm glad to help. I had the benefit of Aus's Medicare system, so I never paid for my treatments, but not working for two months, and not having the energy to cook still cost me a fortune. Did you know Doordash and Uber don't take Medicare?
noobixcube.bsky.social
Devil's advocate: weren't you diagnosed with ADHD early this year? (late last? What is time?) Could be whichever meds you're on are messing with you a bit and it's time for a change.

I don't get tremors from dex, but I'm always on the lookout for unexpected effects. I'm new to it, too, at 37.
noobixcube.bsky.social
Exactly. It's got to be either a strong "wink wink nudge nudge" vibe, or "WAP". Anything in between is just as dull as any song about the butt by anyone other than Sir Mixalot.

The man likes big butts, and he makes it VERY clear.

I know I’m not okay, and I know you’re not, but it gets a little easier each day, and then something will pull the floor from under your feet. That’s going to keep happening for years. Unless we get parrots or tortoises, outliving our pets is part of the deal. I just wish it didn’t hurt so much.
noobixcube.bsky.social
It feels so dumb to think that just because THIS entered my sphere, just because I had lost a pet so recently, that balance in my own life or experience might tip the universe into making Mr Stake come out okay. Grief and empathy and anger at circumstance all tangled together in a weird knot.
noobixcube.bsky.social
I feel so twisted up. Like, I’m not superstitious, I don’t believe in cosmic balance, but I’m still processing my own cat’s passing, just a few months gone, and I had this… delusion… that what I went through had somehow “paid” for you to not go through the same, like the universe might care.

As someone who frequently has a lot to say, and never uses one word when five will do, I can tell you if someone writes a wall of text like that, they are blathering on about nothing. They’re making enough mountains out of molehills that you can see the range from space.

This might be the trans-est thing I’ve ever read. I can’t be the only one who thought that, reading Ultimate Spider-Man #1, this year, right?
A comic page divided into a classic nine panel layout.
Palin one, Peter looks down silently, his face in shadow.
Panel two, Peter looks to MJ, “… I don’t want to say something and not be able to take it back”
Panel three, MJ, holding glass of red wine, looks at Peter, “Well, that’s just not how any of this works… But I do promise, nothing’s going to change how I feel. About you. Or about us. So…”
Panel four, Peter, not making eye contact, “… I think I need… a change.”
Panel five, MJ “Hey, when I quit to start my own business last year, you were one hundred percent on board. And I mean, sure, we’ve got bills, and kids, and it might be tough… but why would you think for a second I wouldn’t be behind you doing something else?”
Panel six, Peter rubs the back of his neck, “No, MJ, I mean *I* need to *change*.
Panel seven, MJ sets her wine glass down, “Oh.”
Panel eight, low angle shot as MJ meets Peter’s eyes, “That.”
Panel nine, peter, confused, maybe defensive, “What do you mean… ‘that’?” A comic page with panels of varying size and ratio four narrow panels on the top row, one wide panel in the middle, and two panels on the bottom row. The wall decor in the bottom row still divides the row into a hint of the traditional thirds.

Panel one, MJ, cross legged on the couch with her hands in her lap, “I know you, Peter Parker. You’re an amazing husband, and just lights-out as a father”
Panel two, low angle of Peter, meeting MJ’s eyes, MJ, from off panel, “But you’ve been walking around for years with this cloud hanging over you. You put a good face on it, but you’re not satisfied with who you are.
Panel three, Peter and MJ side by side on the couch, MJ, “Do you know what you have to do?”, Peter, “I think so. Yes.”
Panel four, MJ, a serious look on her face, “Are things going to change between us?”
Panel five, wide, occupying the middle row, close up of Peter’s face in the centre, Peter, “Never.”
Panel six, MJ kissing Peter’s forehead, Peter, smiling, MJ, “Well, then…”
Panel seven, MJ, walking away from the couch, looking back to Peter, “… that settles it. I’m going to bed. And you…” A comic page with the first, second, fourth, and fifth rows occupied by single large panels, two panels in the third row.
First panel, close up of MJ’s face in the centre, MJ, “Go get ‘em, Tiger.”
Panel two, a wide shot of Peter alone on the couch, sitting with his thoughts.
Panel three, close up of Peter removing a container from a bag.
Panel four, Peter, outside the apartment, about to head up the stairs to the roof.
Panel five, Peter, alone on the roof, light spills from the doorway behind him. It’s night in New York, cloudy and snowing.
Panel six, A wide shot of Peter, skyscrapers behind him, snow falling, looking at the container in his hand.

Easiest decision I’ve ever made. I lost my cat, earlier this year, and you know the weirdest thing? He loved Mr Stake. He’d sit on the coffee table, eyes glued to the TV, whenever I put on your Soul Silver nuzlocke. Well, maybe he just liked the bright colours. He loved Star Trek, too.

In Ultimate (1610), Eddie was a childhood friend of Peter’s. If I recall, a science undergrad under Kurt Connors when Peter was still in high school. The symbiote in that universe wasn’t alien, but biotech designed by Peter and Eddy’s fathers.

Memory is fuzzy on it, so sorry about any inaccuracies.
noobixcube.bsky.social
Eddie Brock’s whole reason for hating Peter was pretty thin. Brock‘s story on the Sin Eater case was proven wrong when Peter’s photos hit the Bugle, and it cost Brock his career. Like... It’s not Peter’s fault you faked a newspaper story, dude… You fucked your own career.
noobixcube.bsky.social
That’ll be Flash. In 616, Eddie was never part of the core group (though I’ve only read up to 2008, who knows what’s been retconned in since then). He was absolutely nobody, not in the comic, until the symbiote found him, and then he and the symbiote’s shared hate-boner for Peter fuelled him.

Are you team "the suit is red and blue", or "the blue is just highlights on the black"? The canon seems to be red and blue, but the art is back and forth on it, and both are represented clearly, here.
noobixcube.bsky.social
Stupid autcorrect. My Herzog is like everyone else’s Walken, not Walker… I saw more of the reboot with Jared Padalecki than of the original with Chuck Norris, and I noped out of the reboot mid first episode.

If I could push my voice just a little deeper and hit Keith David playing Goliath in Gargoyles, I’d be overjoyed. That voice is the reason I’m bi (probably).
noobixcube.bsky.social
I’ve never voice acted. I have a Werner Herzog that’s like everyone else’s Walker: bad, and barely recognisable, but used at the slightest opportunity. Working on getting my Stan Lee to the same level. Unfortunately(?) I have deep smooth anime villain voice. I’d love to have a bit more gravel.

That has to be the worst kind of euphoric experience.

I was just talking shit about the Tomba release being bad (actually played it in DuckStation instead, after buying), but appreciative of these feelies. Only just realised this is about Tomba 2. Great to see the included hardware, but I really hope LRG did a better job with the actual game this time.

I think at this point, that was a pretty safe bet, so I'm sure it's not new information, but having it confirmed dashes any hope it was just a really bad localised cancer. It's a special kind of awful to hear that (I assume, from having gotten the opposite news on each of my two so far).
