As a horseback riding coach, the most athletic student I have had over thirty years was - a hockey player. Once had a horse drop to her knees at high speed, dude yanked both feet out of the stirrups, somersaulted over her head and out of the way, landed on his feet. Horse was like 😳 what happened?

So where I have isolated from people, in many ways, I feel more connected to Nature through my animals. Mostly peaceful, mostly productive, not exactly tame. Reflecting on my own shifts. I’ve had a lot of healing with my family, healing from DV too. This pres is predictable. We do not consent.

I used to be in a band, and I loved it. Now my bandmates are scattered by the four winds, and it’s rare that I break out into song. But I’ve found quieter means of expression, and ways of building community online and irl. My vibe is “stay low”. I hug my horse every night. My hound sleeps on me.

It truly is stunning how much our world has changed in the past decade. I snorted at “can’t remember the last time I shaved my legs”, sames. It’s hard to focus with all of this escalating all the time. I’ve actually reconnected with my creative self to escape, well, everything.

Yeah, running engages their prey drive and would escalate the situation. Smart, and yeah, it’s hard to keep it together when a dobe is coming at ya. I’ve had many, love them.
