@jacinthah.bsky.social and I were discussing #Viking Age #Scandinavian #ship #sails in a #textile context. Obviously the stripes are separate lengths of #cloth. Would it make sense to make LONG lengths of cloth and cut them as needed? Or would they have made them to the desired length?

Does anyone have information on the Viking Age coin depicting a ship with sails reefed, tied up to the top? I am not sure of it's provenance.
