The countdown begins! Our #ArchiveAdventCalendar begins with 2 letters from the #SantaArchive from the Kelling Sanitorium in the 1950s, one child is asking for a book of planes and some Meccano and the other some wool, a photograph album and a flower vase. #Christmas2025 @ara_scotland #Presents

Perhaps this document might have acted as a cautionary tale for those accountable for felling the sycamore gap tree. This legal record details how John Arther was found guilty of cutting down five mature oak trees and sentenced to receive 50 lashes every month in Aylsham Market. #nationaltreeweek

Are you having cake today for #nationalcakeday? We might try this recipe for a sponge cake- we just need to dry the flour by the fire, boil the sugar and then beat it for an hour before we bake. We just hope the cake is worth it!

This humorous addition was spotted by one of our super volunteers in a building control plan for a house on Eaton Road in Norwich, dated March 1951. It seems that the grey watercolour for the window appears elephant-like and this has been emphasised with pencil. #HouseHisto ry #NorwichHistory
