If I tug the bill of my cap like so, it means the signal is a fake. However, I can take that off by dusting my hands thusly. #lickface
Yeeesh. Sorry to say, you don’t know ball

I’m actually curious if you’re old enough to have watched them both play in their prime. Because if you’re citing DRS and UZR, I’m thinking you didn’t watch them day in and day out like I did. Advanced stats are good, but def. is notoriously shotty and the gulph between those numbers is insane

Love Chase, he was definitely not an elite fielder. A good fielder? Absolutely, but not elite. Jimmy was elite at a harder position for a long time.

Defense gets undervalued. Jimmy brought an elite glove and swagger that put the Phillies back on the map. You can’t quantify that impact, but as someone who watched him help turn the franchise around, Jimmy’s value goes way beyond the numbers, and to me, he’s right there with (or above) Chase.

As a Phillies fan, this all tracks with what I’ve seen. Really good article. Can you elaborate on “That actually makes sense, as we’ve long known that protection comes from ahead, not behind”. Or share an article about it?
