There's an awful lot of dogmatic ideologues on this app and they do, indeed, direct a lot of hate at anyone they disagree with. If I was trying to have substantive conversations that sometimes strayed from leftist orthodoxy, I could imagine it being a bit frustrating.

Ever seen The Insider? I personally think it's Michael Mann's best film. It's sort of a behind the scenes dramatization of 60 Minutes showing how they (used to) produce segments. Great film that I've been thinking about quite a bit lately.

Everyone who knows anything about him knows Watterson would never agree to such a thing, but I can't really fault the guy for wanting to do it. It's misguided but it's not inherently evil.

There's some vile stuff happening along these lines right now. Like, stuff that I wish I hadn't read about because it's so horrible. Some of it significantly worse than this story. There're some truly evil people using Meta and Discord to victimize vulnerable young people in all kinds of ways

And occasionally you'll meet straight men who have it and obviously there are many gay men who don't. I guess what I find so fascinating is, like, what factors influence whether someone develops the accent or not?

Which is really interesting because some people dislike the accent and are embarrassed by it, including Thorpe himself.
