also keep in mind that some plants can reproduce asexually, maybe this one can too. it’s not the same as like pollination but if a limb falls off and lands in some dirt it can make another plant, for example golden pothos just doesn’t bloom in captivity. so ig that would ease the pressure to bloom

maybe it relies on a specific pollinator and only blooms during its active hours, like bats or moths. also a shorter blooming period is technically more energy efficient which would be helpful to a desert plant that probably has a very limited amount of resources to work with
