Serenity can be found and savoured when watching graceful and elegant waders (or shore birds in the USA). Another reason for visiting the Isles of Scilly (UK) is the opportunity of being up close with the large shearwaters and other sea-birds which are increasingly in these south west waters for some months of the year, thanks to Joe and the Scilly Pelagics team...🪶🐬 #ukbirding

A day in coastal Suffolk, England yesterday was enjoyable with sightings of Britain's first breeding Zitting Cisticolas, a confiding juvenile Black Stork, a Grasshopper-eating Eurasian Kestrel running along the ground in front of us and plenty of insects, waders, raptors and more...😀🪶 #ukbirding

A very colorful bird sits high up in the trees. The bird has a large black beak for its size. It's a bit round in shape and is very sharply pointed. Above its eye is a streak of vibrant turquoise color. A black streak also accents its eye, which runs from the beak to its neck. A soft spot of red sits between the black and turquoise accents. Highlights of black and turquoise are visible below its beak on its neck. From the neck to the tips of its wings and its tail, colors from olive green to dark green, red, and orange blend together. The tips of its wings and its tail feathers are turquoise with accents of black. Its tail feathers are fascinating. They're as long as its body and the middle of them are just skinny strands with no feathers on them.

This male Eurasian Sparrowhawk was perched on some guttering right next to House Martin nests and refused to budge! He clearly thought if he waited long enough one would come by but on this occasion they had him spotted and stayed up in the sky and inside their nests...🪶 #birds #wildlife

Another visit to Christie's Copse Ponds at Pitsford Reservoir (Wildlife Trust BCN) this afternoon after the rain provided more dragonfly action including ovipositoring Blue Emperor and Southern Hawker and lots of bickering with the Brown Hawkers, Four spotted Chasers etc...🪰

A survey on the Wildlife Trust BCN reserve at Pitsford Reservoir today began early to avoid the full strength of the predicted heat. Okay up until the half way stage but then I gradually wilted! 😜 Highlights were three Otters, 16 sp butterfly, a mix of odonata and water birds...🪶
