Like making stuff with wood or code. Based on the Northumberland coast on bluesky to see what nice interesting stuff people are up to 👀
#workshop cladding done! Looks the finished article now - what do people think?

Also now I'm close to the end curious if others had a space like this what would you use it for?

Door and window in today. Still lots to do before it's finished but feels good to get this far. #shed #build #workshop

Bought a gift card from a local book shop today for my wife's birthday and it's made from wood. Found that mildly interesting 🪵

After uploading my YouTube video on the workshop dwarf wall one of the questions none of my 8 subscribers asked was hows that going to be attached to the timber walls? Well here's the answer anyway... Big galvanised L bracket, 80mm concrete bolt and a few stainless screws.

Just uploaded a new video on my workshop build. If you've been watching updates on bluesky this is going back in time as it takes me a while to put the videos together so hope you like them 😅 youtu.be/7ciUH6tn53k?...

First furniture purchase for the workshop. Nice to have somewhere to sit. Take a good look as this is the best condition this chair will ever be in.

Also still on the hunt for a very used leather armchair on gumtree for when I want to sit but not scoot about on wheels.

#workshop #build progress. This week got roof OSB up, wall insulation, breathable membrane, soffits & fascias and laid rubber roof. Letting the creases flatten out a bit before I glue it down tomorrow.

Minus the massive holes for the door and window the #shed is water tight now. #woodworking

Big progress on the #workshop #build today. Walls and roof joists went up. Quick progress thanks to my dad coming over for the day to add a pair of hands and big mitre saw for the roof joists.

One side wall up, back wall built but needs to be lifted into place (waiting for some extra hands as it's heavy) and started on second side wall now.

#shed #build is progressing well and can really get a sense of the size now 😁

DPC added and joined to DPM. This is attempt 2 as I started by just using DPM tape but it wasn't holding all too well. There's now 50mm double sided butyl tape holding it together and all weather gorilla tape to tidy up the joins. This is 1000 times better!

Finished laying bricks for the workshop base. Will do the DPC tomorrow as it's still a bit windy today for that 💨

Then of to the builders merchants and ordering the wood for the walls and roof 😁

Got up to something a bit different yesterday and had a day sail on the Williams II out of Blyth. Great feeling being back out on the water.

Posted a workshop foundations video before but that was a quick and dirty time lapse.

I'm working on a more polished #youtube build series & wanted to share since the foundations video was added yesterday and it goes into more detail. Here's the playlist so far.

So I was made redundant yesterday and have 3 month gardening leave. That means today there's workshop build progress so silver lining 😅

First time laying bricks so slow a process for me. There will be 2 courses of these that the rest of the timber structure will be built on.

Some extra content on my summer house #workshop #build. This is my first go at a #youtube video so maybe not the cleanest editing but it's a start.

Foundations done! I am chuffed.

Digger did some digging, hardcore compacted down, framing for concrete made and now just getting the DPM down.

Busy day and tomorrow the foundations get poured.

Back fence fixed, marked foot-print out and dug electric conduit trench.

Tomorrow will be exciting as the workshop build properly starts. 1st step is the foundations and will post updates as it gets done. Been quite a bit of prep work so giddy the build is starting!

Just set up on Bluesky. My stuff is pretty much focused on herrings as the name suggests. Rigbys Encyclopaedia of the Herrings is being published in September by @hurstpublishers.bsky.social

Just got back from butterfly world near Yarm/Middlesbrough. Toddler had a great time and I got some irl snaps of the #bluesky logo 😅

New #book arrived today. Quick flick through and already excited. Lots of #woodworking specifically for #boats two of my favourite topics 👀

Nut fell off my wheelbarrow wheel and god only knows where its ended up. Bit of electrical tape + mole grip and with this dirty hack I'm back in business 😅

Knowing me this will be more permanent than it really should.

First time figuring out #timelapse on my camera. Here's ~40min of me breaking up concrete in 48 seconds.

Started yesterday with just the sledgehammer and today with the SDS. I'm a fan of those who perfected the art of #handtools but this one is certainly a #powertools job for me 😅

#Shed #demolition progress from yesterday. It was a lovely day to be working outside ☀️

Still knackering work and had a well deserved beer and good sleep last night.
